When introducing negative numbers I like the task 'make three', then make it in a different way (by using zero pairs).
I wanted to extend that idea to if we have the number three and there are 105 yellow counters how many red counters would there be? Or perhaps if I had 105 counters in total how many are yellow? This task attempts to extend this idea.
The final column is included to lay the foundation for addition with directed numbers.
